Real Madrid manager, José Mourinho has defended Kylian Mbappé against criticism, insisting that a player who scores 40 goals for Real Madrid “is never a problem” for the team.
The Real Madrid coach praised Mbappé’s work rate during the club’s match against Inter, particularly when Madrid were temporarily reduced to 10 men.
“When the team was playing with 10 men for two minutes towards the end of the Inter game, Mbappé was defending like an animal on the left wing.
“It was incredible It’s a joy for me to see that type of attitude,” Mourinho said.
Mourinho also criticised what he described as selective analysis of Mbappé and Real Madrid’s performance.
He noted that some pundits focused on the chances Inter could have scored while ignoring Madrid’s own attacking opportunities.
“They say that we could’ve conceded four, which is true, but they don’t say that we could’ve scored eight,” he said.
Questioning the motives of Mbappé’s critics, Mourinho added, “Why don’t they say that? Is it because they’re unhappy we won?”
He concluded by reaffirming his support for the France captain, saying, “Kylian is right.”
