As enforcement of compulsory Third-Party Motor Insurance continues across Nigeria under the National Insurance Industry Reform Act (NIIRA) 2025, motorists are being encouraged to understand the benefits of broader insurance protection for their vehicles.

The regulation requires all vehicle owners using public roads to possess at least a valid third-party insurance policy. However, industry experts say drivers can enjoy greater financial protection by choosing additional cover options such as Third Party, Fire & Theft, or Comprehensive Insurance.

Mutual Benefits Assurance Plc says its motor insurance products are designed to help vehicle owners manage risks associated with road accidents, fire incidents, theft, and other unexpected events.

Speaking on the importance of adequate insurance coverage, the company advised motorists to consider comprehensive plans for better protection and peace of mind.

Comprehensive insurance provides year-round support for vehicle owners by covering a wide range of risks that may arise while using their vehicles.

The insurer currently provides different categories of motor insurance to meet varying customer needs and financial capacities. Its basic Third-Party Only plan, available from N15,000, covers damage to third-party property as well as bodily injury or death, with compensation limits aligned with statutory requirements.

Drivers looking for wider protection can also subscribe to the Third Party, Fire & Theft package, which adds coverage for losses caused by fire outbreaks, theft, or attempted theft involving the insured vehicle.

For more extensive security, the Comprehensive Insurance package includes protection against accidental damage resulting from collisions, overturning, malicious damage, and fire incidents. The comprehensive option is available in Silver, Gold, and Diamond plans, allowing motorists to choose coverage that suits their budgets.

The company noted that its insurance protection extends beyond Nigeria to other West African countries, while policies become valid immediately after the insurance certificate is issued.

Motorists were also advised to provide accurate information during registration, pay premiums promptly, and report incidents quickly to ensure smooth claim processing whenever the need arises.
