The Nigerian Civil Aviation Authority (NCAA) has warned airlines against misleading passengers on delay reasons, especially fuel shortages.
Director of Public Affairs, Michael Achimugu, in a statement on Tuesday says, “Airlines should, please, ensure to let passengers know the true reasons for lengthy delays, especially when it is a fuelling issue. Do not keep people waiting in false hopes from morning until late night.”
He criticised false excuses like “bird strike” for fuel issues or uncertain ETAs, urging airlines to let passengers rebook for important events.
“If you keep passengers up to 10pm, provide them HOTAC,” Achimugu added, amid DGCA Capt. Chris Najomo’s orders for enhanced monitoring.
This follows fuel scarcity reports and complaints affecting students, officials, and businesses.
