Nigerian content creator Jubril Oladapo, popularly known as Officer Woos, has denied a viral claim that he announced the death of fellow skit maker, Broda Shaggi.
Officer Woos in a statement on Sunday described the allegation as false and defamatory.
The rumour began when an X user posted Broda Shaggi’s photograph with the caption, “Officer Woos just announced the passing away of his brother Broda Shaggi via his IG page.
May his soul rest in perfect peace.”
The post quickly circulated across social platforms.
Officer Woos responded by sharing a screenshot of the claim to his Instagram Story and writing, “False.”
In a statement from his legal representatives, Versed Attorneys, the content creator said the social-media publications were “false, malicious and defamatory.”
The firm wrote, “Our client has never announced the death of any colleague, friend, or associate on any of his platforms.
“These publications are entirely manufactured and constitute a deliberate attempt to mislead the public.”
The lawyers also dismissed a separate viral allegation that Officer Woos had been arrested over drug‑trafficking, stating, “We hereby unequivocally state that both claims are entirely false, fabricated, and without any basis whatsoever. Our client has never been arrested, investigated, charged, or in any way connected to allegations of drug trafficking, at any point in 2025 or at any other time.”
Citing Nigerian defamation and cybercrime laws, Versed Attorneys warned that those responsible for originating and circulating the false claims could face legal consequences and demanded “an immediate and unconditional retraction from all pages, handles, and individuals responsible for the publication and circulation of these false statements” and a public apology within 48 hours.
The death rumour follows an earlier false report that Broda Shaggi had been shot while filming at Sango‑Ota Bridge in Ogun State in March 2026.
