Peter Okoye’s 2016 loyalty pledge resurfaces amid renewed P-Square feud

A 2016 remark made by Nigerian singer Peter Okoye, popularly known as Mr P, has resurfaced amid the renewed dispute involving his twin brother, Paul Okoye, and their elder brother, Jude Okoye.

In the statement, Peter pledged to stand by Paul while opposing Jude’s role as the group’s manager.

“My bro I will still stand and fight for you because you and I started this journey b4 Jude came onboard as our manager,” he had written.

Peter’s comments were made during an earlier period of tension within P-Square, the music duo formed by the Okoye twins.

At the time, disagreements over management, finances and control of the group had intensified, with Peter reportedly calling for Jude to be removed as manager.

The statement has attracted renewed attention because of Peter’s current accusations against both brothers.

In a series of videos released in 2026, he alleged financial betrayal, royalty mismanagement, property disputes, threats and attempts to sideline him from the P-Square brand.

Peter has also claimed that Paul supported Jude in legal proceedings concerning ownership of the P-Square name and restrictions on his performance of the duo’s songs.

According to reports, Peter said a recent legal action sought to stop him from performing P-Square songs.

“During the hearing, the first thing they wanted to do was stop me from performing P-Square songs,” Peter said.

He further rejected Jude’s reported claim that bringing P-Square to Lagos in 2005 gave him ownership of the group, insisting that the twins had begun their music journey years earlier.

“P-Square’s first album came out in 2003. We’ve been singing for four to five years before that,” he said.

P-Square, which dominated the African music scene in the 2000s, first broke up publicly in 2017 after years of disagreements involving management, finances, and creative direction.

The twins reunited in 2021 but separated again in 2024 following renewed disputes over business affairs and contributions.

The latest escalation has included allegations over royalties, company accounts, and property ownership.

Peter previously alleged that more than $1.2 million in music royalties had been diverted through Northside Music Limited, while Jude has denied wrongdoing and presented a different account of the transactions.

The dispute has also entered the legal arena, including proceedings linked to an Economic and Financial Crimes Commission investigation involving Jude, Dailyeconomy reports.

The matter remains unresolved, with the brothers presenting conflicting accounts of the group’s finances, ownership and history.

Peter’s 2016 pledge to “stand and fight” for Paul now stands in sharp contrast to his current claim that his twin has sided with Jude against him.

The continuing family dispute has divided fans and placed the future of the P-Square brand in further uncertainty.
