The Delta State Police Command has arrested four suspects and recovered seven firearms, ten live cartridges, two stolen motorcycles and suspected illicit drugs in separate operations against cultism and armed robbery in Umunede and Ughelli.

The Command said the suspects are in custody as investigations continue.

Police in a statement signed on Saturday by
SP. Bright Edafe, Police Public Relations Officer, Delta Command, said the first operation followed a complaint on October 30 that 30-year-old Chibuike Ezeji allegedly threatened to kill a resident while brandishing a pistol.

Operatives from Umunede Division, working with the Umunede Civilian Anti-Cult Group, raided a residence along Umunede Expressway linked to suspected cultist Oscar Ignatius.

Ezeji and 22-year-old Ikenna Emeka were arrested during the operation.

A search reportedly recovered one pump-action gun, one locally made cut-to-size gun, three locally made pistols, eight live cartridges, and substances suspected to be cannabis and methamphetamine.

Ughelli Robbery Operation
In Ughelli, operatives of the Commissioner’s Special Assignment Team (CP-SAT) raided a suspected hideout in the Ighrovie area on October 28 after reports of motorcycle snatching by armed men around Stadium Road, Saniko and nearby communities.

The police arrested Peter Emobaye, 22, and James Emmanuel, 29, and recovered one stolen Qlink motorcycle.

During interrogation, the suspects allegedly led officers to the residence of their fleeing gang leader, identified only as Sunny, in Ufuoma Town, where officers recovered another stolen Daylong motorcycle, a fabricated Beretta pistol, a locally made shotgun and two live cartridges.

Delta Commissioner of Police, CP Samuel Etaifo Erale, reaffirmed the Command’s commitment to confronting cultism, armed robbery and the circulation of illegal weapons.

He called on residents to provide credible and timely intelligence to support ongoing security operations.

“The Command reiterates its commitment to tackling cultism, armed robbery and the proliferation of illegal firearms,” the police statement said, while urging residents to continue supporting the force with “credible and timely information.”

The Command assured Deltans of sustained efforts to protect lives and property across the state.
