Police arrest suspected cultist, recover weapon in Lagos

Operatives of the Lagos State Police Command has arrested 27‑year‑old Yusuf Lamina Adigun and recovered a locally made pistol with one live cartridge during a routine stop‑and‑search on a motorcycle in the Ijaiye/Ojokoro area.

This was made known in a statement signed on Saturday by SP Abimbola Adebisi, Lagos Police Public Relations Officer.

Adigun, who confessed to membership of the Eiye Confraternity, told investigators he and other members were “on a mission to launch an attack” before officers intercepted them.

The suspect is in police custody while police pursue fleeing accomplices and search for more weapons.

CP Tijani Fatai said the Command will maintain “intelligence‑led policing and proactive operations” against cultism and urged residents to stay vigilant and give timely, credible information.
