Police arrest suspects over kidnappings in Kwara

Operatives of the Kwara State Police Command have arrested two suspects believed to have facilitated the abduction of three people in Ifelodun Local Government Area.

This was made known in a statement on Friday signed by the Police Public Relations Officer, SP Adetoun Ejire‑Adeyemi.

The suspects, identified as Sauni Shehu and Auwalu Bala, are being investigated for alleged criminal conspiracy, aiding and abetting kidnapping, and kidnapping after intelligence-led inquiries linked them to the abduction of three victims at Ogele Fulani Camp, via Igbaja, Ifelodun LGA.

Police said both men are “assisting with useful information” as detectives intensify efforts to identify and apprehend other members of the syndicate.

“The relentless pursuit of criminal elements and everyone connected to their activities continues to yield tangible results,” the statement from the command added, stressing that the arrests demonstrate the force’s “unwavering resolve to ensure that criminal networks, including their collaborators and informants, are identified, dismantled, and brought to justice.”

Commissioner of Police, Kwara State Command, CP Adekimi Ojo psc, mnips, reaffirmed the command’s commitment to the policing vision of the Inspector‑General of Police, IGP Olatunji Rilwan Disu, which prioritises intelligence‑led policing, proactive crime prevention and protection of lives and property.

He urged residents to keep supplying “timely, credible, and actionable information,” assuring that every tip will be “professionally harnessed” to strengthen efforts against kidnapping and violent crime across the state.

Ejire‑Adeyemi, said the suspects remain in custody as investigations continue.
