Rashford returns to Man United as Amorim edges former club with Milan

Marcus Rashford is back in the Manchester United fold for 2026/27 after a season-long loan at Barcelona, while Ruben Amorim marked his first win as AC Milan head coach with a 4-2 pre-season friendly victory over his old side.

The 28-year-old academy product returned to United training this week in club attire, signaling his reintegration under new head coach Michael Carrick ahead of the new campaign.

During his loan at Barcelona last season, Rashford recorded 14 goals and 14 assists and helped the Catalan side secure the La Liga title.

His United exile began in late 2024 following a fallout with then-manager Ruben Amorim, which led to temporary spells away from Old Trafford—first at Aston Villa and then at Barcelona before his official return this summer.

In a separate pre-season fixture, Amorim secured his first win since taking charge of AC Milan as the Rossoneri beat Manchester United 4-2 in a friendly.

Milan’s goals came from Chukwueze, Cissé, Ramos and Loftus-Cheek, while United replied through Harry Maguire and Dorgu.

The result ends a three-game winless run for Milan in pre-season under Amorim and hands United only their second defeat of their summer schedule.
