Cristiano Ronaldo has been suspended for 30 days and fined €255 by the Portuguese Football Federation after walking out of the national team camp in Denmark.
Transfer news expert, Fabrizio Romano reported the official decision on Monday, “Cristiano Ronaldo has been suspended for 30 days plus fined for €255. The decision has been made by Portugal Federation after he left the national team’s camp in Denmark. Cristiano himself had suggested a punishment after apologising for that.”
The disciplinary council of the Portuguese FA found the charges against the 41-year-old “fully substantiated.”
The official statement confirmed Ronaldo was convicted of an intentional disciplinary offence under federation rules and handed the 30-day suspension plus the fine of €255.
The incident occurred during the September 2026 UEFA Nations League window. Ronaldo was an unused substitute in Portugal’s win over Norway on 27 September.
He later claimed head coach Jorge Jesus had promised him playing time but failed to introduce him after warming him up.
When told he would not start the following match against Denmark, Ronaldo left the team’s camp in Copenhagen before the game.
In a statement earlier in October, Ronaldo apologised to his teammates and fans, accepted responsibility, and said he deserved to be punished.
The federation took his remorse into account when setting the penalty at the lower end of the possible range.
The suspension is understood to be backdated, meaning Ronaldo has already served the bulk of the ban and is expected to be available again for Portugal’s next international fixtures in mid-November.
The fine, while symbolic, represents a tiny fraction of the Al-Nassr forward’s earnings.
