Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu has inaugurated the Lagos State Physical Planning and Building Control Appeals Committee at Lagos House, Marina on Tuesday, aiming to enhance fairness in urban development oversight.
In a statement, the governor emphasised the committee’s mandate, “Today, I inaugurated the Lagos State Physical Planning and Building Control Appeals Committee at Lagos House, Marina. This committee will play an important role in ensuring fairness, accountability, and due process in matters relating to physical planning and building control across our state.”
The new body will handle appeals related to physical planning and construction regulations in Lagos, Africa’s most populous city.
This comes amid rapid urbanisation challenges, including enforcement of development rules, demolition of illegal structures, and resolving land use conflicts that have strained the state’s infrastructure.
