Sanwo-Olu meets Trump’s Africa Adviser in Washington, seeks US investment for Lagos

Lagos State Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu has met with Massad Boulos, Senior Special Adviser to United States President Donald Trump for Africa, in Washington, D.C., as part of efforts to deepen economic cooperation and attract foreign investment to Lagos.

The meeting, held at the US Department of State, focused on strengthening Nigeria-US relations in ways that could expand technology partnerships, unlock capital and support economic growth in Lagos.

Sanwo-Olu disclosed the development in a statement on Saturday, saying the engagement was centred on building relationships with practical benefits for Lagos residents.

“Today in Washington, D.C., I met with Mr. Massad Boulos, Senior Special Advisor to President Donald Trump for Africa, at the U.S. Department of State,” the governor said.

He added that both sides explored “opportunities to deepen economic cooperation, attract more investment and strengthen technology partnerships for Lagos through stronger Nigeria-U.S. ties.”

According to the governor, the outreach aligns with his administration’s broader drive to pursue partnerships capable of improving the welfare of Lagos residents.

“Our focus is to build relationships that create real pathways and improve the lives of our people.

“That is what we will continue to pursue, wherever it takes us,” Sanwo-Olu said.

The meeting reflects growing subnational diplomatic engagement by Nigerian state governments seeking to draw foreign capital, innovation and technology collaborations to support local development.
