Video: Russian strikes trigger fires across Ukraine as death toll near Kyiv rises to 37

Russia has launched a wave of overnight missile and drone strikes on Ukrainian logistics and port infrastructure, sparking large fires in the Kyiv region and southern Ukraine, as the death toll from a blast near the capital rose to 37.
Ukrainian authorities said the deadliest strike hit a warehouse in the village of Myla in Bucha district, west of Kyiv.
The attack triggered a major fire and secondary explosions, killing at least 37 people and injuring 42 others, including four children.
About 50 residential buildings were damaged, while hundreds of residents were evacuated from the area.
Russian authorities said the facility was an ammunition depot used by Ukrainian defence technology company Fire Point to store components and launch boosters for FP-1 and FP-2 long-range drones.
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy said an investigation had been opened into possible negligence, noting that ammunition should not be stored close to residential areas.
Russia’s Defence Ministry also claimed to have struck logistics centres and warehouse facilities in and around Kyiv, including sites it said held components for Ukraine’s Flamingo cruise missiles.
Emergency services were deployed to several locations across the Kyiv region to contain large-scale blazes following the strikes.
In southern Ukraine, Russia said it targeted refuelling and other facilities at the ports of Izmail in the Odesa region and Mykolaiv.
Odesa Governor Oleh Kiper said one person was killed and three others injured in the Izmail area, where several trucks carrying grain or food cargo were destroyed or damaged by fire.
The attacks came amid an intensified late-August Russian aerial campaign against Ukrainian ports, warehouses, industrial facilities and logistics networks. Earlier this week, Russian strikes also hit retailers’ distribution hubs near Kyiv as well as port and industrial targets in several Ukrainian regions.
