Sowore pledges AI ‘Minister of Finance’, drone-led defence in 2027 vision

Presidential hopeful and rights activist, Omoyele Sowore has outlined a radical, tech-driven blueprint for governance in 2027, vowing to hand key cabinet roles to Artificial Intelligence and drone systems if elected.

In a post shared on his verified X handle, Sowore noted that “Sowore2027 will appoint Artificial Intelligence as ‘Minister of Finance’ and a ‘Drone’ as Minister of Defence.”

He argued that the proposed AI “will eliminate human manipulation, waste, and corruption in public finance by making data-driven, transparent decisions,” while insisting that “The Drone will redefine national security with modern surveillance, rapid response, precision, and accountability.”

Sowore summed up his vision by asserting that “The future of governance is technology, not patronage,” tagging the post with “#Sowore2027” as part of his ongoing campaign messaging.

Sowore’s proposal places emerging technologies like AI and unmanned aerial vehicles at the centre of Nigeria’s public finance and security architecture, suggesting a sharp departure from the country’s traditional, human-led cabinet system.

By framing AI as a tool to drive transparency and drones as instruments for “modern surveillance” and “rapid response,” he links technological adoption to long-standing concerns over corruption, insecurity, and bureaucratic inefficiency in Nigeria.

The latest post builds on Sowore’s earlier comments in which he stated that, if he became president, his “minister of defence will be a drone,” emphasising his belief that technology and drones are essential to Nigeria’s security strategy.

In previous interviews and remarks, he has argued that drones and AI-backed systems could strengthen intelligence gathering, improve response times against criminal networks, and offer more efficient, targeted operations than conventional military platforms.
