Super Falcons exits Paris Olympics after defeat to Japan

The Super Falcons of Nigeria have been eliminated from the Paris 2024 Olympics following a 3-1 defeat to Japan in their final Group C match.

This loss marks their third consecutive defeat in the tournament, having previously lost to Brazil and Spain without securing a win.

In today’s match, Japan took an early lead with goals from Maika Hamano and Mina Tanaka.

Jennifer Echegini of Super Falcons managed to pull one back, but it wasn’t sufficient to encourage a comeback as Hikaru Kitagawa locked the victory for Japan.

However, Fans reacted with anger and disappointment following the Super Falcons’ 3-1 loss to Japan, leading to criticism on social media.

Many expressed frustration over the team’s performance throughout the tournament, where they failed to secure a single win. Calls for accountability against the team’s management were prominent among the reactions, reflecting a deep sense of dissatisfaction among supporters.
