President Bola Tinubu has congratulated Muslims across Nigeria on this year’s Eid-el-Maulud celebration, urging them to uphold the teachings and exemplary virtues of Prophet Muhammad (Peace Be Upon Him).
In a statement issued on Tuesday by his Special Adviser on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga, the President said the celebration should go beyond commemorating the birth of the Holy Prophet.
Tinubu said the occasion should offer Muslim faithful an opportunity for “introspection, prayer, and learning” from the Prophet’s exceptional character and life of service.
“The Muslim faithful should make deliberate effort to adhere to the teachings of Prophet Muhammad,” the President said.
“There are great lessons of devotion, perseverance, tolerance, humility and selflessness that we can all learn from the life of the Prophet.”
The President called on religious leaders to use the Maulud period to pray for Nigeria and encourage their followers to apply the Prophet’s lessons in their commitment to national development.
He also appealed to Muslims celebrating the festival to show compassion by reaching out to the needy and vulnerable.
Tinubu further called for prayers against insecurity and other challenges affecting parts of the country.
