A video clip of Cristiano Ronaldo accusing Manchester United’s owners of neglecting the club has gone viral again.

Video: ‘Glazers don’t care about Manchester United,’ Ronaldo’s 2022 remark resurfaces

In the footage from his November 2022 interview with Piers Morgan, Ronaldo states, “The owners of the club, the Glazers don’t care about Manchester United.”

He continued that the club operates primarily as “a marketing club,” adding that while the owners “will get their money from the marketing,” when it comes to “the sports they don’t really care, in my opinion.”

Ronaldo also revealed he had never spoken to any members of the Glazer family after returning to Old Trafford in 2021, saying they had handed operational power to the president and sporting director.

He insisted the fans “are always right” and deserved to know the truth about the club’s direction.

The Portuguese star’s contract was terminated by mutual consent later that November after he also criticised manager Erik ten Hag and claimed he felt betrayed by the club.

The Glazer family has owned Manchester United since their leveraged takeover in 2005 and has long faced fan protests over debt levels, commercial focus and on-pitch performance.

In 2024, British billionaire Sir Jim Ratcliffe acquired a minority stake of around 29 per cent through INEOS and assumed control of football operations, while the Glazers retained majority ownership approximately 71 per cent and the co-chairmanship.

Reports in 2026 have indicated that some members of the Glazer family have discussed selling further stakes, though no full exit has been agreed.
