Video: Iranians are ready to die as martyrs for country — President

Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian has said Iranians are prepared to sacrifice their lives and become martyrs in defence of the country, describing the position as a sign of strength rather than weakness or surrender.
In a video clip, Pezeshkian is heard saying, “Everyone is prepared to offer their lives selflessly for the country and become martyrs.”
He added, “This does not come from weakness or surrender.”
The remarks echo statements Pezeshkian made in April 2026, when he joined the “Janfadaa for Iran” self-sacrifice campaign amid heightened tensions between Tehran and Washington over the Strait of Hormuz.
Iranian authorities said more than 14 million people had registered their willingness to sacrifice their lives for the country, although the figure was not independently verified.
Pezeshkian also noted at the time, “I too have been, am, and will remain ready to give my life for Iran.”
