Manchester City reignited the Premier League title race with a gripping 2-1 victory over leaders Arsenal at the Etihad Stadium on Sunday, narrowing the gap at the top to just three points with a game in hand.

In a breathless Matchweek 33 clash, Rayan Cherki stunned the visitors with a sublime solo goal in the 16th minute, weaving through Arsenal’s defense after a clever pass from Matheus Nunes—his earlier deflected shot had already rattled the post.

Arsenal hit back swiftly, as Kai Havertz pounced on a goalkeeper howler just two minutes later to level at 1-1 by half-time.

The second half belonged to Erling Haaland, who struck the winner in the 65th minute with a ruthless left-footed finish from the center of the box, extending his big-game prowess.

Arsenal pressed relentlessly but couldn’t breach City’s rearguard, despite creating several chances in an end-to-end affair.

Pre-match, Arsenal held a three-point lead with 70 points from 33 games; City, on 67 from 32, now loom large heading into the run-in.

The Premier League hailed it “a match for the ages,” with social media ablaze in memes and rival banter—Arsenal fans facing “bottlers” taunts, while City supporters lauded Haaland’s clutch mentality and Pep Guardiola’s home resilience.

Table-toppers Arsenal remain favorites, but United and Villa lurk for top-four drama.
