Video: Ndidi reveals truth behind Vardy’s ‘Juju cream’ allegation

Leicester City legend Jamie Vardy recently sparked laughter and curiosity when he recounted on his Jamie Vardy’s Having a Party podcast how Nigerian teammates Wilfred Ndidi and Kelechi Iheanacho would return from quick trips home with a mysterious “juju cream” that supposedly worked wonders on injuries.
“They used to get injured. Little knocks, then go back to Nigeria for just one day. They come back with a nice big tub of juju cream,” Vardy said.
“That was the only thing that the masseuse was allowed to apply to the injured area. They used to tell us that it had come from a Nigerian witch doctor.”
Ndidi, the Super Eagles midfielder now at Besiktas, clapped back in a light-hearted video, holding up a container of the cream and setting the record straight with a big smile.
“It’s shea butter,” Ndidi explained, revealing the playful prank the Nigerians had kept going.
“It’s ori (natural shea butter), and anytime we came back, he would ask, and we’d say, ‘Oh! It’s from a witch doctor in Nigeria.’ And when we said, ‘Let’s use it on you,’ he always said no, even when we told him he would score more goals.”
The trio shared many memorable years together at Leicester City (roughly 2017–2024), where Ndidi and Iheanacho formed a close brotherly bond dating back to their Nigeria youth national team days.
Vardy, known for his lively personality and even picking up some Pidgin English to banter with his African teammates, often kept the dressing room atmosphere fun.
