Video: NDLEA warns public after tramadol hidden in black soap seized in Lagos

The National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) has urged Nigerians to refuse parcels or luggage from strangers after officers in Lagos seized tramadol concealed inside containers of black soap bound for the United Kingdom.
A video released by the agency on Sunday shows gloved officials cutting open a taped package, digging through labeled “Ose Awure” black soap containers and revealing multiple small foil-wrapped packets of pills hidden within the substance.
NDLEA spokesperson Femi Babafemi said the concealment method using everyday Nigerian products reflects a growing tactic to smuggle opioids to European markets.
“It’s difficult not to continue to warn people that they should avoid accepting any parcel 📦 or luggage from anyone,” Babafemi wrote.
“Why? Here are pills of tramadol buried in black soap containers to get them to the UK, but the concealment was discovered by @ndlea_nigeria officers in Lagos.”
The agency says such seizures highlight the need for public vigilance and collaboration with law enforcement to disrupt export routes for illicit drugs.
Investigations into the consignors and intended recipients of the shipment are ongoing.
