Vozinha signs for Colo-Colo after World Cup heroics

Cape Verde veteran, goalkeeper Vozinha has signed an official contract with Chilean giants Colo-Colo after a verbal agreement reached on Friday and will travel to Chile shortly to complete medical tests and finalize paperwork.

The 40-year-old free agent rose to global prominence at the 2026 World Cup, where he played every minute of Cape Verde’s historic campaign that ended in the round of 16.

Vozinha kept two clean sheets and recorded a tournament-high level of shot-stopping, including a Man of the Match performance in Cape Verde’s shock 0-0 draw with Spain, a game in which he made seven crucial saves and an eight-save display against Argentina in the round of 32 that helped force extra time in a 3-2 loss.

Colo-Colo, one of Chile’s most successful clubs, described the signing as both a sporting reinforcement and a commercial opportunity after Vozinha’s World Cup heroics and recent recognition in FIFA fan selections.

The club expects the goalkeeper’s experience and leadership to strengthen their squad while boosting the team’s profile domestically and across South America.

Vozinha’s arrival will follow medical examinations and formal registration with the Chilean league, after which Colo-Colo will announce his availability for selection.
