Video: Netizens criticise video of Federal University Dutse student escorted in military-style ceremony

A video showing a Federal University Dutse student being treated like a state governor has sparked criticism on social media.
In the footage, the student, dressed in traditional white attire, arrives in a black sport utility vehicle and walks on a red carpet as individuals dressed in camouflage appear to salute him.
A person in a green uniform is also seen participating in the ceremony.
The video further shows a group of people performing military-style drills, including push-ups, in front of the student and other spectators at what appears to be an outdoor campus event.
Reacting to the footage, a netizen criticised the display and called for sanctions against those involved.
“This is not a State Governor. This is a student of Federal University Dutse, Jigawa State. Those individuals on military camouflage should be sanctioned for either impersonation or abuse of AFN regalia. Arrant nonsense!”
However, some social media users suggested that the event could have been a Students’ Union Government activity, an Aluta-style campus ceremony or a curriculum-approved simulation exercise.
A similar incident involving a Federal University Dutse student union president previously drew public attention, with the university reportedly explaining that the escort formed part of a practical exercise by students of Criminology and Security Studies on protecting a high-profile personality.
