Video: Spain installs 1,600-foot sea barrier after mass Ceuta migrant surge

Spain has installed a 1,600-foot floating sea barrier off its North African territory of Ceuta after an estimated 60,000 migrants crossed from Morocco in a single day, triggering a major border and humanitarian crisis.
The containment measure comes as authorities moved to secure the enclave following chaotic arrivals by land and sea that overwhelmed local resources.
The surge, which included people swimming and wading across the border, prompted Spain to deploy troops and police to the area, while many migrants later returned voluntarily to Morocco.
Video shared from the scene showed nighttime arrivals and celebrations, alongside daytime footage of officials deploying the long red boom near rocky shores as part of the border response.
The mass crossing has reignited Europe’s immigration debate, with officials saying the situation had largely been brought under control but remained under close watch.
