Presidential aide, Bayo Onanuga has called for self-acclaimed social media police Martins Otse well known as VeryDarkMan or VDM to “face the weight of the law” after VDM circulated an audio allegedly featuring President Bola Tinubu discussing insecurity, party funding and urging Peter Obi to step aside.
Onanuga wrote via X on Wednesday, “This VDM needs to face the weight of the law for being the conveyor and disseminator of a fake audio of President Tinubu.
“This is a clear case of an egregious abuse of the social media platform.”
In the video, VDM urges viewers to “listen to this Tinubu voice note” and overlays a phone-screen graphic claiming the clip came from an “Ex APC senate member.”
The played audio (in a voice imitating Tinubu) includes claims that people tried to remove him from power, that Tinubu called Peter Obi to step down, and remarks linking insecurity in the Southeast to party funding.
Replies and counter-videos widely assert the audio was edited or deepfaked onto an unrelated VDM clip about electricity promises, prompting accusations both of government overreach and of activist-driven propaganda.
Critics call the post “cheap propaganda” and “AI-generated,” while supporters insist the material is genuine, leaving the clip heavily disputed online.
