United States President Donald Trump has claimed Hamas was solely responsible for every life lost in the Israel-Gaza conflict, asserting that the Palestinian militant group and Iran should bear the blame for the war’s casualties.
Trump made the remarks during his address to the Republican Jewish Coalition Annual Leadership Summit in Las Vegas, Nevada, on October 28, 2023, weeks after Hamas’ October 7 attack on Israel.
“There is no comparison between a group that worships death and a group that cherishes life,” Trump told the gathering.
“Every single life that is lost in this conflict is on the shoulders of Hamas. Hamas alone, Hamas alone,” he said, before adding, “And I think you have to really add in the word Iran.”
The speech came as Israel intensified military operations in Gaza following the October 7 Hamas attack, which triggered the current phase of the war.
Trump framed the conflict as a struggle between “civilization” and “savagery,” while voicing strong support for Israel’s campaign against Hamas.
