Video: Trump says Netanyahu respects him and ‘does as I say’
Trump in an interview with Axios noted that he maintain a good relationship with the Prime Minister but he sometimes needs to “keep him a little bit sane,” while asserting his ability to influence Israeli military decisions.
“Bibi Netanyahu worked well with me, but he will tell you, we’re the ones with the guns. We’re the ones with the whole deal. We’re the ones with the B2 bombers, etc. If it weren’t for Donald Trump, Israel would’ve been eviscerated,” Trump said.
Trump also responded when asked about his relationship with Netanyahu, “Good, but we have to keep him a little bit sane.”
When pressed on whether he could prevent Israel from striking Lebanon, Trump replied, “Yeah, I will be. I wonder. They have a lot of respect for me, and they do as I say,” before moving on to discuss Iran’s nuclear deal and potential B-2 strikes.
