In a significant escalation of the ongoing US-Iran conflict, the US has targeted the Shur River Bridge in Kohurestan, southern Iran.
The strikes as seen in a video severely damaged the structure and cutting the Bandar Abbas–Lar highway in both directions.
Eyewitness video shows a large explosion and intense fire engulfing the bridge at night, with reports indicating that civilian vehicles were present on the span at the time of the impact.
However, casualty figures remain unknown at this time.
This strike occurs amid heightened tensions in the broader US-Iran conflict that intensified earlier in 2026.
The US has conducted multiple rounds of strikes on Iranian targets, particularly focusing on military infrastructure, ports, and logistical assets near the Strait of Hormuz, a critical global oil transit route.
Bandar Abbas serves as a major southern port city, making the connecting highway vital for regional transport and military logistics.
Earlier in July, US forces also hit northern railway bridges linked to trade corridors with China and Russia, as part of efforts to degrade Iran’s supply and movement capabilities following reported Iranian actions in the Strait of Hormuz.
The conflict has involved tit-for-tat exchanges, with both sides targeting infrastructure while diplomatic efforts have faced repeated setbacks, Dailyeconomy reports.
