Barcelona wonderkid, Lamine Yamal has backed Argentina striker, Julián Álvarez noting the forward would be “absolutely perfect for Barça style”.

Speaking in an interview Yamal noted, “We wait for him at Barça with open arms. Julián for sure is that kind of player everyone wants to play with, he’s absolutely perfect for Barça style.”

Yamal, one of world football’s most talked-about teenagers, doubled down on the chorus of supporters calling for a new No. 9 at the Camp Nou.

“He’s a top player, we all know that. I hope he joins,” the 17-year-old said, comments that will increase pressure on the transfer market as the summer window heats up.

Barcelona’s search for a clinical, high-pressing centre forward who thrives in possession and links well with creative attackers has dominated sporting conversations this summer.

Many at the club view Álvarez as a versatile forward known for his work rate, finishing and ability to combine as an ideal fit for Flick’s high-intensity, possession-based system.

Álvarez’s future is the subject of intense speculation. Although currently tied to Atlético Madrid, reports this summer have suggested friction between player ambitions and Atlético’s long-term plans.

Atlético historically protect key assets with steep release clauses, figures as high as €500 million have circulated in past reporting, though any realistic transfer would be negotiated well below such headline numbers.

Still, Barcelona’s finances and any necessary sales would play a decisive role in whether a deal is feasible.

The timing of Yamal’s remarks matters as the July 2026 transfer window is open, and public endorsements by teammates or stars often add momentum to rumours.

Atlético, keen not to lose a prized player cheaply, is likely to push back hard; any move would be costly and complex.
