Vinicius Junior was given the longest summer break among Real Madrid players, receiving four weeks off after leading the squad in workload last season, according to Diario AS.

The decision came after the Brazil winger logged 4,249 minutes from a possible 5,040, featuring in 53 of Madrid’s 56 matches and starting 48.

The move underlines Real Madrid’s effort to protect one of their biggest stars physically, with the club closely monitoring his recovery and training load. In the photo, Vinicius is seen wearing a monitored training vest with sensors, a sign of the physical management being applied to his return to action.

Vinicius’ figures show how central he was to the team last season, as he played 84 percent of the available minutes. His extended break was designed to help him recharge before another demanding campaign.
