The Delta State Police Public Relations Officer, Edafe Bright has said the Nigeria Police will not accept or detain any suspect that has suffered from jungle justice from those who took the laws into their hands.

Bright in what he described as a clarification post on his X (formally Twitter) handle on Wednesday, confirmed that if suspects die due to beating or any form of jungle justice, the involved individuals will be charged in court for murder.

The post read, “I was at a radio station today to discuss a different type of jungle justice. Many callers who called refused to yield to my advice and insisted that they would beat up a suspected thief black and blue before taking them to the Police Station.

“Let me make it clear, we won’t accept a wounded suspect who suffered from jungle justice in your compound from you. We will accompany you to the hospital where you will have to treat the suspect before we admit the suspect.

“And if the suspect dies due to the beating, you and your other accomplices will be charged to court for murder. So sentiment in law, know this and know peace.”

Dailyeconomy on Tuesday reported that Bright said anyone who attempts suicide risks a year jail term.
