Why officers can sleep like normal human beings — Ex-police spokesperson

Former Nigeria Police Force spokesperson Olumuyiwa Adejobi has defended off-duty police officers who sleep while off the job, saying they are entitled to rest just like any other person.

Adejobi in a post on X drew a clear distinction between officers who are on duty and those who are not, noting that the Nigeria Police Force operates on shift rotations.

In a response to criticism on social media questioning why any police officer would sleep, he urged commenters to be objective in their assessment.

He wrote, “Those officers who are off duty can sleep like a normal human being (Homo sapien sapien). It’s only those on duty that can not, and must not sleep.

“There is nothing wrong if a police man who is off duty sleeps. More so, be reminded and guided that @PoliceNG runs shiftings. Let’s be objective.”
