A group of Nigerian parents and children evacuated from South Africa arrived in Lagos today after a coordinated repatriation operation.

The evacuees disembarked from buses and were received by immigration and health personnel who conducted temperature checks and provided immediate support to ensure their safety and well‑being.

The Federal Government said the reception was part of a broader effort to facilitate the safe return of citizens amid ongoing concerns in South Africa.

The evacuation comes amid ongoing concerns in South Africa, with Nigerian authorities facilitating the safe return of citizens.

The returnees are expected to undergo further screening and to receive additional assistance, including medical checks and welfare support, before being reunited with family or moved to temporary accommodation as required.

Immigration and health agencies coordinating the operation emphasised that the priority is the health and protection of vulnerable returnees, particularly the children, and pledged continued support throughout the repatriation process.
