Chelsea face a hefty £24 million (€28 million) compensation bill to end Liam Rosenior’s contract, which runs until 2032, after parting ways with the head coach on Wednesday.
The club had intended to give the 41-year-old more time but cited poor results as the deciding factor amid crucial pushes in the FA Cup and Champions League.
Rosenior joined from Strasbourg in January 2026, replacing Enzo Maresca, only to struggle with form—highlighted by a 3-0 home defeat to Brighton that sparked fan boos and mounting pressure.
Academy product Calum McFarlane steps in as interim head coach until a permanent appointment in the summer, extending Chelsea’s notorious history of managerial churn under current ownership.
