The ECOWAS Bank for Investment and Development (EBID) has announced a major push to bolster power infrastructure across West Africa, investing $639.5 million in 38 energy projects.

EBID in a statement on Monday says, “Industrial strength relies on reliable energy.

“With USD 639.5M invested in 38 energy projects, EBID is reinforcing power infrastructure across ECOWAS, supporting factories, boosting productivity, and creating the conditions for investment, jobs, and economic growth.”

The initiative targets chronic power shortages that have long hampered regional industrialisation.

This effort aligns with EBID’s broader 2026 priorities on infrastructure development and economic transformation in ECOWAS member states.
