Troops of 12 Brigade Nigerian Army have arrested two suspected terrorist logistics couriers and seized a large cache of ammunition in Kogi State.
This was made known in a statement on Monday by Acting Assistant Director Army Public Relations Lieutenant Hassan Abdullahi.
The operation followed credible intelligence on suspects moving from Makurdi.
Troops at a snap checkpoint along Obajana–Kabba Road stopped a Toyota bus, arresting Zubairu Abubakar and Adamu Abubakar Abdullahi.
A search uncovered “a sack containing 314 rounds of 7.62mm (Special) ammunition” and “three AK-47 rifle magazines concealed behind the driver’s seat,” along with phones, a driver’s license, NIN slip, and ID card, Abdullahi stated.
This follows a March 29 interception of high-profile courier Mathew Elisha (alias Nasara) on a modified motorcycle.
Over three months, troops have cracked down on “terrorists and dismantling their logistics supply networks,” he added.
Suspects and items were handed to 12 Military Intelligence Regiment.
Abdullahi noted the success “underscores the vigilance and proactive posture of troops in denying terrorists freedom of movement.”
