The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has announced the conviction of former Minister of Power, Saleh Mamman, on 12 counts of money laundering involving N33.8 billion linked to the Zungeru and Mambilla Hydroelectric Power projects.
In a statement released Thursday, the EFCC revealed that Justice James Omotosho of the Federal High Court in Abuja delivered the guilty verdict. “Court Convicts Saleh Mamman,” the statement begins,” noting the charges stem from unauthorised fund transfers.
The judge deferred sentencing to May 13, 2026, as Mamman was absent from court.
To prevent his flight, EFCC counsel Rotimi Oyedepo, SAN, successfully applied for a bench warrant.
“To forestall his escape from the country before being sentenced,” the EFCC stated.
The case advanced after a no-case submission was dismissed in December 2025.
