Labour Party Lagos guber candidate in 2023 election, Gbadebo Rhodes-Vivour has reaffirmed his commitment to the African Democratic Congress (ADC), even as prominent opposition figures begin shifting to new political platforms ahead of the 2027 elections.

In a post on X, Rhodes-Vivour said he respects those who have chosen to leave for another platform, describing such moves as difficult but understandable.

“To those who have made the difficult decision to move on to a new platform, I offer my genuine respect and best wishes,” he wrote.

“These are hard choices. We are all fighting for a better Nigeria, even when our roads diverge.”

He added, “I want to make it clear that I am staying in the ADC.”

His comments come in the wake of recent moves by Peter Obi and Rabiu Kwankwaso from the ADC to the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC), a development that has intensified defections and political realignments within the opposition bloc.

The shifting alliances have sparked strong reactions online, with many supporters saying they are willing to back different candidates on different party tickets.

Some say they plan to support Rhodes-Vivour for Lagos governor under the ADC while voting for Peter Obi for president under the NDC, reflecting a growing trend of personality-based rather than party-based loyalty.
