Inspector-General of Police, IGP Olatunji Rilwan Disu, has congratulated fathers across Nigeria and paid special tribute to serving police officers who balance demanding duties with family responsibilities.

The IG’s message was contained in a statement made available on Sunday by the Force Public Relations Officer, CSP Anietie Okokon Edem Iniedu.

“Fathers are central to family cohesion, social stability and national development.

“Their sacrifices, dedication and leadership in raising responsible citizens strengthen the moral foundations of a peaceful and prosperous society,” the IGP said in the statement.

Disu highlighted the role of fathers in nurturing responsible children and promoting values of discipline, integrity, hard work and patriotism, saying those virtues are “essential for nation-building.”

He also praised police personnel who, despite long hours away from home in the course of duty, remain committed to their responsibilities as parents and role models.

“As the nation marks this Father’s Day, I wish all fathers good health, strength, wisdom and fulfilment,” the IGP added, urging Nigerians to honour and appreciate fathers for their “sacrifices, commitment and enduring influence” on national progress.

The statement reaffirmed the Nigeria Police Force’s commitment to protecting lives and property, strengthening community partnerships and supporting initiatives that promote family values and social cohesion.
