Iran’s Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi has accused the United States of sabotaging diplomacy with military strikes in the Strait of Hormuz, vowing Iranians “never bow to pressure” amid the ongoing 2026 US-Israel-Iran war.

In a social media post dated May 8, 2026, from Tehran, Araghchi wrote, “Every time a diplomatic solution is on the table, the U.S. opts for a reckless military adventure. Is it a crude pressure tactic? Or the result of a spoiler once again duping POTUS into another quagmire? Whatever the causes, outcome is the same: Iranians never bow to pressure.”

The statement disputes US intelligence claims, asserting via attached images of his full letter that Iran’s missile inventory and launcher capacity stands at 120% of pre-war levels—against reported 75%—with defence readiness at 1,000%.

It frames recent US actions as undermining fragile ceasefire talks following clashes in the vital shipping strait.

Araghchi’s remarks follow his recent Beijing meeting with Chinese officials to rally support for ending hostilities and reopening the strait.
