Dr Abdul-Azeez Olajide Adediran, popularly known as JANDOR, has announced his withdrawal from the 2027 Lagos State gubernatorial race on the platform of the All Progressives Congress (APC) Thursday, just days after purchasing his Expression of Interest and Nomination Forms.

In a statement laced with loyalty and party discipline, the former Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) governorship candidate – who defected to the APC – cited the endorsement of Deputy Governor Obafemi Hamzat (also referred to as Dr. Kadiri Hamzat) by President Bola Tinubu and Lagos party leaders as the decisive factor.

JANDOR described the move as a “difficult but necessary decision” prioritising collective interest over personal ambition, emphasizing party supremacy and unity.

“I have decided to withdraw from the 2027 Lagos State gubernatorial race,” JANDOR wrote.

“This decision is not borne out of weakness or a lack of capacity, but out of strength, discipline, and a deep respect for party cohesion and unity.”

He reaffirmed his “unalloyed loyalty” to Tinubu, the APC’s national leader, and fully aligned with the president’s direction on the gubernatorial process.

JANDOR urged supporters of his Lagos4Lagos Movement – rooted in equity, inclusion, and a better Lagos – to rally behind the party’s chosen path, framing the moment as one to “consolidate, not to divide.”

The announcement underscores Tinubu’s enduring influence over Lagos APC succession.

Recent backing for Hamzat from the Governor’s Advisory Council (GAC) and Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu signals a push toward consensus ahead of primaries, positioning JANDOR as a reliable party loyalist.

JANDOR, who ran under PDP in 2023, concluded by blessing the Lagos4Lagos Movement, APC, and Nigeria, vowing to continue contributing to the state’s development.
