Mr. Jide Orimolade has been elected President of the Chartered Insurance Institute of Nigeria (CIIN) at the institute’s 55th Annual General Meeting (AGM) held today, Wednesday.
He succeeds Mrs. Yetunde Ilori, whose tenure as President came to an end following years of service to the institute and the insurance industry.
Mrs Adetutu Arusiuka was also confirmed as the deputy president of the Institute.

Speaking shortly after his election, Orimolade described the current phase of the insurance industry as “a new dawn,” expressing optimism that ongoing reforms under the Nigerian Insurance Industry Reform Act (NIIRA) 2025 would provide opportunities for growth and transformation.
He said, “With the NIIRA 2025, I think it is an opportunity for us to upscale and do great things in the industry. I can tell you that the various bodies—the NCRIB, NIA, ILAN and ARIAN—we will all work together and make it a reality.

“It is a new dawn in the insurance industry, and by the grace of God, God will help us. The way people have looked at the insurance industry in the past, I can tell you that the immediate past chairmen have been able to change that perspective, and my coming is to reinforce it and ensure that the insuring public embraces insurance and sees it from a different perspective.”
The newly elected president pledged to build on the achievements of his predecessors by promoting collaboration among stakeholders and deepening public confidence in insurance.

According to him, teamwork will remain central to the success of his administration.

“I will continue to count on your support and your advice because, whether we like it or not, no single individual can make this happen. It is teamwork. I am going to rely on the advice of every one of you, and be rest assured, I will be listening, and by the grace of God, we will move the industry in the right direction,” he added.

The AGM, which was well attended by members of the institute and top industry officials, also witnessed the election of other members of the Governing Council, ushering in a new leadership team expected to steer the affairs of the institute over the next two years.

The four newly elected Council members are: Mrs Funmi Omo; Mr. Olamide Olajolo; Dr. Falade Olugbenga Adedayo; and Mrs Patience Ogboajah.
Industry stakeholders at the event commended the outgoing President, Mrs. Yetunde Ilori, for her contributions to professional development and efforts to strengthen the image of the insurance sector during her tenure.

Observers noted that Orimolade’s emergence comes at a critical time for the insurance industry, as operators seek to leverage recent reforms, deepen insurance penetration, and enhance consumer confidence across the country.
