Manchester United has reached a verbal agreement with Brighton & Hove Albion to sign Cameroon international midfielder Carlos Baleba in a deal worth £65 million plus £5 million in add-ons, according to transfer expert Fabrizio Romano.
Romano confirmed on Friday dusk that United submitted an improved offer after an initial £65 million package was rejected by Brighton, with the 22-year-old now set to undergo a medical this weekend after being authorised to travel.
“Carlos Baleba to Manchester United, here we go! Verbal agreement in place between clubs.
“Improved bid sent today after £65m package rejected and player set to join the only club he wanted.
“Baleba, new #MUFC player soon,” Romano wrote.
Baleba joined Brighton from French club Lille in 2023 and has established himself as one of the Premier League’s most promising central midfielders, noted for his athleticism, ball-carrying ability, and box-to-box influence.
The Cameroon international is expected to become Manchester United’s third midfield signing of the summer as the club continues its rebuild in the middle of the pitch.
