Jose Mourinho has identified Chelsea midfielder, Enzo Fernández as his number one target to bolster Real Madrid’s midfield during the upcoming transfer window, Spanish daily Marca reports.
According to Marca, Mourinho — who is overseeing all transfer operations at the club this summer wants to make the Argentine playmaker his fifth new signing following Denzel Dumfries, Ibrahima Konaté, Marc Cucurella and Bernardo Silva as part of a major squad rebuild.
Real Madrid are said to prefer negotiating with Chelsea to secure Fernández’s services.
However, if the clubs fail to reach an agreement, Mourinho has alternative targets lined up: West Ham’s Mateus Fernandes and Lille teenage sensation Ayyoub Bouaddi, whose performances at the World Cup attracted wide attention.
