The National Board for Technical Education (NBTE) has carried out a resource inspection at Ibadan Digital Academy (IDA), Ibadan, as part of the process for assessing the institution’s readiness to operate as a Skill Training Centre.

The inspection team was led by Engr. Usman Haruna of the NBTE Kaduna office, while Mr. Oladapo Michael, representing the Awarding Body, was also part of the exercise.

During the visit, the team inspected the Academy’s training facilities, equipment and learning environment and reviewed its human resources and other requirements for skills training.

The team also examined the Academy’s capacity in areas including software development, data analytics, social media communication, computer hardware and security systems, creative media and other technology-related skills.

The exercise included discussions with the management of the Academy on its training programmes, instructors, facilities and approach to practical skills development.

The Chief Executive Officer of Ibadan Digital Academy, Engr. Peter Ojo, said the inspection provided an opportunity for the Academy to assess its preparedness against the requirements for a Skill Training Centre.

“We welcome the inspection and the opportunity to have our facilities, personnel and training systems assessed. We believe that skills training must be practical, relevant and delivered in an environment that meets the required standards,” Ojo said.

He said the Academy had continued to focus on areas of technology and digital skills that are relevant to young people, professionals and the changing demands of the workplace.

According to him, the inclusion of areas such as computer hardware, security systems, social media communication and creative media alongside software and data-related skills reflects the broad range of competencies required in today’s digital economy.

The resource inspection is part of the regulatory process and does not in itself constitute accreditation or approval. The outcome of the exercise will determine the next stage of the process, subject to the relevant NBTE procedures.

Ibadan Digital Academy has been involved in digital skills training and technology education in Ibadan, offering programmes in areas including software development, data analytics, artificial intelligence, cybersecurity and other digital skills.
The Academy said it would continue to engage with the NBTE and other relevant stakeholders as the process progresses.
