The Spanish Supreme Court has definitively confirmed the nullity of decisions by LaLiga’s president that excluded Real Madrid from meetings overseeing the league’s audiovisual rights in 2022.

The club confirmed the development in a statement on Tuesday.

On April 10, 2026, the First Chamber dismissed LaLiga’s appeal and refused a subsequent motion for annulment, the court ruling noted.

The Supreme Court held that the president’s measures violated Real Madrid’s participation rights and were taken without following the legally required procedure, making the exclusions unlawful and procedurally improper.

“Far from accepting this ruling, LaLiga subsequently filed a motion for annulment in an attempt to challenge a judgment that was already final in its legal reasoning.

“The Supreme Court has decided not to admit this motion and has expressly rejected the use of this mechanism to reopen a legal debate that has already been settled by the courts,” Real Madrid said.

The club described the decision as a definitive vindication of its position throughout the legal process.

“This new ruling definitively confirms the correctness of the position maintained by Real Madrid C.F. throughout these proceedings and brings to an end LaLiga’s repeated attempts to challenge decisions that have been declared unlawful,” the statement added.

Real Madrid expressed satisfaction with the outcome, saying the ruling “reaffirms the principles of legality, legal certainty, and respect for the rights of the clubs that make up the institutions of professional football.”
