Activist and African Action Congress (AAC) presidential candidate, Omoyele Sowore has publicly declined an invitation to the “Opposition Summit” in Ibadan, dismissing it as a charade to recycle failed politicians.
In a statement on Sunday, Sowore argued that the same leaders responsible for “stagnation, corruption, and systemic decay” cannot credibly reposition themselves as champions of progress.
“Not all Nigerians are suffering from amnesia,” he wrote.
Sowore emphasised that the AAC would not join efforts to repackage discredited figures from parties like the APC, PDP, Labour Party, and ADC.
Instead, the party plans to offer a “formidable, people-driven alternative” focused on integrity, accountability, and transformation.
“Nigeria does not need a rearrangement of the same broken pieces; it needs a complete break from the past,” he asserted, vowing to mobilise citizens against the “decadence and deception” of the establishment.
The Ibadan summit, aimed at uniting opposition forces ahead of the 2027 general election, has drawn mixed reactions amid Nigeria’s ongoing political tensions.
