Sunday Igboho, the Yoruba Nation activist formally known as Chief Sunday Adeyemo, has disclosed that he is awaiting Federal Government approval for the commencement of operations of his proposed security outfit, Iru Ekun Security Network, amid growing security concerns across the South-West region.
Igboho stated on Monday that the security outfit was conceived as part of efforts to combat criminal activities and flush out kidnappers, terrorists, bandits and other criminal elements operating in forests across the region.
In a statement, he said all necessary documents and procedural requirements for the registration and approval of the security network had already been submitted to the Federal Government.
According to him, “We have submitted all the required documents for our registered security firm, Iru Ekun Security Network, and we are only waiting for Federal Government approval, which will be granted soon.”
He added that the proposed outfit is prepared to collaborate with security agencies including the Nigeria Police Force, Department of State Services, Nigerian Army and the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps to strengthen security operations across the South-West.
Igboho also commended President Bola Tinubu for what he described as the administration’s commitment to improving the country’s security architecture.
“It is obvious that President Bola Tinubu’s administration is resolutely committed to tackling criminality, not only in the South-West but in all regions plagued by insecurity,” he said.
The activist further expressed readiness to comply with the Executive Order recently signed by Seyi Makinde regulating the activities of private security firms in Oyo State.
He noted that the Iru Ekun Security Network would support all lawful measures aimed at strengthening peace and security in Oyo State and other parts of Yorubaland.
Igboho stressed that peace and security remain essential for socioeconomic development, particularly in rural communities where agriculture serves as a major source of livelihood and food production.
