Troops of Operation Hadin Kai dealt a heavy blow to Boko Haram terrorists in coordinated strikes under Operation Desert Sanity V, neutralising at least 18 fighters and seizing a massive weapons cache, according to a Wednesday statement.
In Bulabulin Forest near Yobe, Sector 2 troops, backed by air support and Civilian Joint Task Force, cleared enclaves at Mar, Subdu, Yaro Lawanti, and Yaro Shuwari.
They clashed at Malam Shiri Village, killing 11 terrorists in a flanking manoeuvre.
“All life support structures were subsequently destroyed,” the statement said, with troops recovering 9 AK-47 rifles, 3 PKT machine guns, 5 motorcycles, ammo, and IED materials.
At Azir Bridge’s Timbuktu axis along Wajiroko-Sabongari, another raid with air interdiction killed 7 more, leaving “blood trails and body parts indicating significantly higher enemy casualties.”
Items seized included AK-47s, RPG tubes, ammo, bandoliers, and radios.
Lt. Col. Sani Uba, JTF spokesman, hailed the Air Component’s role: “providing persistent Intelligence, Surveillance, and Reconnaissance (ISR) that enabled accurate target acquisition. Precision air interdiction strikes further decimating scores of the insurgents.”
Follow-up ops continue along Forfor, Multe, and Wajiroko to hunt fleeing fighters.
“These successful engagements further reinforce OPHK’s growing operational effectiveness,” Uba added.
