United States Central Command has announced that American naval forces have redirected two commercial vessels attempting to breach a restarted blockade of Iranian ports, just 17 hours after the operation resumed.
In a statement shared on Wednesday, CENTCOM said, “Since restarting the naval blockade against Iranian ports 17 hours ago, U.S. forces have redirected 2 commercial vessels attempting to run the blockade. The U.S. military remains vigilant and prepared to ensure full compliance.”
The action comes amid an escalation in the ongoing Iran-related conflict, part of a broader wave of hostilities that has intensified in recent months.
Tensions have surged following repeated Iranian-backed attacks on commercial shipping and U.S. interests, prompting the renewed blockade aimed at restricting maritime traffic to and from Iranian ports.
Multiple ships are reportedly holding position outside the restricted zone as the U.S. maintains a firm stance to enforce the measure.
